A Brief History of Rolls-Royce Stocks

The prototype of the modern Rolls-Royce appeared in 1884. Then Sir Frederick Henry Royce organized a business related to the production of motors and electrical equipment. He built the first engine in 1904 and in May of that year met Charles Stewart Rolls, the owner of a car dealer in London.

Their partnership began in 1904, and in 1906 the Rolls-Royce company was registered.

During the First World War, the company produced its first aircraft engine and received large orders. Rolls-Royce provided the production of about 50% of aircraft engines from the total demand of the Entente countries.

For several decades, the company has been completely focused on the production of aircraft engines. During World War II, more than 160,000 engines were produced, and aircraft equipped with them set a number of records.

After the war, Rolls-Royce enters the civil aviation market, and the development of improved versions of engines continues. The automotive industry is also developing.

Excessive self-confidence led to the bankruptcy of the company in 1971. By this time, due to the crisis, demand had decreased, while the company was actively borrowing to develop a new jet engine and a new car model. The UK government prevented the company from disappearing and paid off £ 250 million in debt for it.

After nationalization, the automotive business was spun off and Rolls-Royce Motors was formed. Rolls-Royce plc was founded in 1987 as a result of privatization.

In 1998, the owner of Rolls-Royce Motors decided to get rid of him and sold Volkswagen for £ 430 million. Later, the BMW concern became the owner of Rolls-Royce Motors.

After the listing of the shares, the rapid growth did not begin immediately. Rolls-Royce's share price on the stock exchange began to grow rapidly in 2003.

The company is headquartered in London. Rolls-Royce has over 50,000 permanent employees. During its work, the company has created several subsidiaries. The most famous of them are - ITP Aero, Bergen Engines, Rolls-Royce Power Systems, AirTanker Services, Texas Aero Engine Service LLC, PKMJ Technical Services Inc.
