Ferrari history

Ferrari has been known as a car manufacturer since 1947. But the foundation was laid much earlier - in 1929, when Enzo Ferrari founded the Scuderia Ferrari racing team. She had a full-fledged workshop, where mechanics and racers took the first steps towards becoming a full-fledged automaker.

In early September 1939, Enzo Ferrari left Alfa Romeo, and under the terms of the contract, he did not have the right to use the Ferrari brand for 4 years. Immediately after leaving Alfa Romeo, Enzo registered the company Auto Avio Costruzioni - in theory, it was supposed to produce parts for the needs of aircraft manufacturers and machine tools. But the very next year, the Auto Avio Costruzioni 815 racing car comes out.

During the Second World War, Auto Avio Costruzioni repurposed to copy German grinding machines. The plant was badly damaged as a result of the fighting, but was quickly restored after the end of the war.

In subsequent years, a series of cars was produced in racing and "civilian" versions. The popularity of the brand is ensured by the successful design and technical characteristics of cars. The pilots of cars regularly take prizes in competitions, the recognition of the Ferrari brand in the world is growing.

In 1969, Fiat SpA became the company's largest shareholder, and the concern acquired a 50% stake in Ferrari. In 1988, Ferrari became a Fiat subsidiary, as Fiat S.p.A. bought another 40% of the stocks.

In October 2014, Fiat withdrew Ferrari SpA from its membership. As a result, the Dutch company Ferrari N.V. appeared, and the withdrawal from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. ended in January 2016.

Ferrari still produces sports and racing cars. The specificity of this business is that only a few thousand cars are produced per year, but they are sold at prices many times higher than the cost of their “civilian” counterparts.

The headquarters is located in Maranello (Province of Modena, Italy). Ferrari employs more than 4,000 people.

The company has several subsidiaries. The most famous of them are mainly financial and consulting divisions, regional offices, for example, Ferrari Australasia Pty Limited, Ferrari Financial Services Inc., Ferrari Management Consulting (Shanghai) Co. L.t.d.
